Selected expertise
What I offer
Technical consulting for engineering firms, developers, and infrastructure owners across the region.
Geologic assessment of karst terrain for residential and commercial site development. Sinkhole risk evaluation, subsurface void identification, and foundation suitability recommendations for builders, developers, and property owners.
Geologic evaluation of rock slopes, rockfall potential, and slope movement, including the structural and groundwater conditions that influence stability.
Site-specific seismic hazard analysis for critical facilities, with regional expertise in the seismically active mid-South.
Field investigation planning and oversight, subsurface characterization, and geologic hazard documentation for engineering projects.
ASTM E1527-21 compliant Phase I ESA for property transactions, development projects, and lender requirements. Identification of recognized environmental conditions with clear, defensible reporting.
A fast, cost-effective desktop screen (ASTM E1528) for lower-risk properties and preliminary due diligence. Delivered in 2–3 days with a written recommendation. If the screen identifies concerns, the fee is credited toward a full Phase I — so there's no sunk cost if you need to go further.
Independent review of geotechnical reports and technical documents for regulatory submittals, due diligence, or project quality assurance.
Qualifications
Professional registration, federal experience, and advanced training form the foundation of every engagement.
About
Independent consulting
Cumberland Geoservices provides independent technical analysis — conclusions driven by the geology and the data, not by project delivery pressure or predetermined outcomes.
That independence matters when technical conclusions carry weight: in regulatory submittals, safety evaluations, or decisions about aging infrastructure.
Cumberland Geoservices, PLLC is the independent consulting practice of Peter Krembs, PG, an Engineering Geologist based in Nashville, Tennessee. I work with clients throughout the state and across the mid-South region. My background includes extensive federal experience in geotechnical work across Tennessee and surrounding areas.
I focus on karst site characterization, geologic hazards, seismic hazards assessment, and Phase I ESA — technical areas where geologic understanding is central to good decisions. My work covers the full range from field investigation through analysis, documentation, and regulatory support.
I hold a Tennessee Professional Geologist registration and graduate training in geologic hazards and geological engineering. My clients include engineering firms, developers, and property owners who need reliable, independent geologic analysis.
